As contemporary artists that work in performance, printmaking and publishing, we would like to tackle the subject of the boundaries of print and publishing from two angles: theory and practice. We propose a performance in two parts, consisting of a performance lecture introducing performative publishing and our practice in general (think costumes, readings, and some introductions to how to become a human photobooth!), then proceed to a partly pre-prepared ‘live press’, our signature piece, in which we publish an impromptu zine documenting the events, discussions and other live content (as well as quirks!) that happen on the day.

By ‘partly pre-prepared’ we mean that we would like to be in touch with other participants beforehand to collect any relevant peripheral material that they may or may not be presenting in order to provide a more expansive glimpse of what they may want to convey at the conference. The completed zine will be printed and distributed by the end of the day. The idea is that the audience will experience the reasoning and thought behind the process of performative publishing as well as witness it in action, hopefully offering one view of how publishing can indeed be theatrical and be an art of its own right.
